I-66 Outside the Beltway

  • Location

    Fairfax, VA

  • Duration

    July 2019 - December 2022

  • Owner

    FAM Construction (JV)

Wagman’s Geotechnical Construction group has been subcontracted by FAM Construction, LLC to drive steel H-piles with pre-drilling, install post and panel walls at multiple locations, and temporary shoring for this 22.5 mile long, design-build project. These improvements to the I-66 corridor stretch from I-495 in Fairfax County to University Boulevard in Prince William County, Va. Once complete, there will be two express lanes alongside three regular lanes, in each direction, corridor-wide bike and pedestrian improvements, and safety and operational enhancements at key interchanges.

Wagman has multiple contracts for this project, including Grooving & Grinding work.

Key Challenges & Project Details

  • Wagman is performing the work in close proximity to residential and I-66 traffic.
  • Underground utilities are in the vicinity where Wagman is drilling and driving. Crews and supervision are staying diligent in making sure that all resources are being used to avoid an underground utility strike in the challenging environment present along the I-66 corridor.
