  • Location

    Wilmington, DE

  • Duration

    May 2021 - August 2021

Wagman’s Geotechnical Construction Group designed and installed temporary support of excavation for new apartments and a clubhouse at Acts Retirement-Life Communities – Country House. The project consisted of five walls to support the existing building, parking lot and access road. The excavation cuts ranged from 12 feet to 20 feet.

The five walls totaled 6,135 SF of temporary support of excavation over 534 LF. The design included drilled soldier piles, lagging, walers, tiebacks and a raker system.

Key Challenges & Project Details

  • Since the site was at the retirement community, there were restrictions on work hours. Construction work could not start before 7:30am.
  • Existing utilities had to be re-routed to install one of the temporary excavation support walls.
