(York, PA) Wagman Construction is a proud ABC Keystone member and is honored to have three projects recognized at this year’s Excellence in Construction Awards. The Excellence in Construction Awards are given to local member contractor firms based on the outstanding work they performed on projects by local member contractor firms. During the Excellence in Construction Awards Gala on November 7, 2024, Wagman received an Excellence Award for the Dickinson College John M. Paz ’78 Alumni & Family Center Renovations, a Merit Award for the York College of Pennsylvania Appell Horticulture Center, and a Merit Award for the York College of Pennsylvania Campus Mall Improvements, all within the Institutional $2 to $10 Million category.
“Being recognized with these awards is a tremendous honor to our team’s commitment to quality, collaboration, and innovation,” said Jan Wagner, President of Wagman Construction. “Each of these projects reflects our dedication to creating spaces that not only serve the immediate needs of our clients but also enhance the campus experience in a lasting way. We are grateful to our partners and proud to see our work contribute to these vibrant academic environments.”
Each of the awarded projects showcases Wagman’s expertise in creating exciting, functional spaces that enrich campus life. Dickinson College’s John M. Paz Alumni and Family Center seamlessly blended historic preservation with modern updates, featuring a new concrete foundation, restored wood floors, custom railings, and ADA-compliant features, resulting in a functional, character-rich space. Wagman’s construction of York College’s Appell Horticulture Center exemplified meticulous planning and collaboration, incorporating modern labs, study areas, and a vibrant living wall. Despite campus challenges, delays, and budget constraints, the team’s innovative solutions ensured a safe, efficient project delivery. York College’s Campus Mall also underwent a transformative upgrade, including enhancements to the iconic fountain, Schmidt Library facade, signage, and landscape. Unexpected discoveries, like a 1900s foundation, added historical depth, while careful planning to preserve mature trees and revitalize the campus hub, blended history with modern design.
