Wagman’s Geotechnical Construction group was contracted by a returning client to design and install 184 each, 16” diameter auger pressure grouted piles to support a new, 14-story mixed-use, high-rise residential tower, located in Wilmington, DE. Due to the building’s high loads and poor subsurface fill conditions, along with space constraints, the auger cast piles were designed to rest on the underlying gneiss bedrock.
Key Challenges & Project Details
- With a motivated project team, Wagman was able to overcome tough drilling conditions and poor soil conditions within the new building footprint, resulting in minimal impacts to the project and the schedule.
