Homewood at Spring House Estates – Assisted Living Facility

Wagman partnered with Homewood Retirement Homes to construct an addition to Spring House Estates, a personal care facility in Everett, Pa. The addition to the existing community center included 16 resident households and common area spaces such as including a therapy gym, beauty salon, laundry and staff areas. The therapy room has the capacity to accommodate outpatient services.

The project also included a renovation and expansion to the pool area locker rooms and the main kitchen. The facility will initially operate as an assisted living facility but has been designed and built to allow for skilled nursing care in the future.

Key Challenges & Project Details

  • 22,000 SF assisted living facility.
  • Careful planning of deliveries was required due to the tight constraints of the construction site.
  • With the work being performed on an occupied campus, a “Resident Watch” was initiated to ensure all passersby would safely be rerouted past active construction areas.
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering was designed in a way to easily accommodate future expansion plans.

Project Fun Facts

  • Previously, the facility’s kitchen was open to the public once a week. With the new expansion, the staff is now able to open the kitchen to the public daily.
