Wagman Construction Project

Harrisburg Area Community College Ceiling Installation

  • Location

    Harrisburg, Pa.

Wagman’s Special Projects Group completed the installation of a new, dropped ceiling in existing classrooms at the Harrisburg, Pa. campus of Harrisburg Area Community College.

The existing open ceiling plan created classroom disruptions during rainstorms, so much so that classes had to be cancelled. The Wagman team installed a dropped ceiling in seven classrooms to mitigate sound disruptions due to rain. Work included dropping all devices, sprinklers, lights and strobes to the new dropped ceiling height.

Key Challenges & Project Details

  • Aggressive schedule. All work needed to be complete during the college’s summer break.
  • Due to a material delay related to COVID-19, a redesign of the system was needed to ensure the appropriate materials would arrive on time.
  • Wagman coordinated the work with the school’s summer class schedule, which required careful sequencing and execution.
