Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. recently received the 2021 Engineering News Record (ENR) MidAtlantic Award of Merit in the Highway/Bridge category for the I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange project in Gaithersburg, Md. This annual awards program is dedicated to honoring the best regional construction projects, which are divided into 20 categories. Wagman representatives accepted the award during the ENR MidAtlantic Regional Best Projects Awards Luncheon in Baltimore on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
The $92M I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange Project for the Maryland State Highway Administration relieves congestion on one of Montgomery County’s most congested corridors. Wagman Heavy Civil completed construction which included a new interchange on I-270 consisting of 14 structures, including a five-span bridge over I-270 and a two-span bridge along an off-ramp. Despite COVID-19, the project was completed safely, and ahead of schedule in mid-2020, at which time MDOT SHA held its first ever virtual ribbon cutting ceremony.
