Wagman Heavy Civil Recognized with Awards from DBIA-MAR

(York, PA) Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. accepted three awards at the 2025 Design-Build Institute of America Mid-Atlantic Region (DBIA-MAR) awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 19. The ceremony recognizes the best design-build projects in the region that demonstrate teamwork, effective schedule and cost performance, advanced and innovative project delivery, and design-build best practices.

I-95 Northbound Rappahannock Project Team with DBIA-MAR Best in Process Award

The I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing project received a DBIA-MAR Award of Merit in the Infrastructure category, in addition to receiving the DBIA-MAR Best in Process Award. This was a Special Recognition category, which evaluated the design-build delivery process from development to procurement to execution, and how the approach influenced project results. The $116M design-build project for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), relieved congestion and provided local traffic with an additional route on a highly traveled portion of I-95 over the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg, VA. It included the design and construction of three new general-purpose lanes for I-95 north, a new bridge over the Rappahannock River and a bridge over US Route 17.

DBIA-MAR, Brentsville Infrastructure Award
Route 234 Brentsville Road Interchange Project Team with DBIA-MAR Award of Merit, Infrastructure

The Route 234 Brentsville Road Interchange project, located in Manassas, VA, also received a DBIA-MAR Award of Merit – Infrastructure. This $49M, funded by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, was Wagman’s first Public-Private Transportation Act (PPTA) project. It relieved congestion with a new, grade separated interchange that minimizes traffic signals and improves overall safety. It included the design and construction of two new bridges over Route 234, a shared-use path separating pedestrians from motorists, and a truss-style pedestrian bridge over Route 234.
