Wagman Heavy Civil Opens Final Major Ramp at I-95/SR 896 DE Interchange as Project Nears Completion

Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. announces the opening of the final ramp at the I-95/SR 896 Delaware Interchange project, located in Newark, DE.  The new ramp, which opened to traffic on Wednesday morning, allows SR 896 northbound and southbound traffic to exit onto I-95 southbound.

This is the final major milestone of the project. Construction began in May 2023 and is expected to be complete this fall.

The $224M project for the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is designed to improve safety and reduce congestion on the heavily traveled I-95 Corridor at Delaware State Route 896, which is the main exit for the University of Delaware. It features the addition of six new bridge structures, 10 MSE retaining walls, structure rehabilitations, asphalt and concrete paving, new sign structures, drainage improvements, and a shared use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.
