(York, Pa.) On February 11, 2021, the Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) hosted its annual Awards of Excellence banquet (virtually) during the 28th MdQI Conference. These awards are open to engineers and contractors who successfully deliver public sector transportation projects in the state of Maryland. Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc’s. I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange Project in Montgomery County, Maryland received three awards of excellence.
Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. received the following Awards of Excellence: Partnering Award – Project Over $10M and Modal Award – Project Over $5M for their I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange project. Additionally, W.F. Wilson & Sons received the Subcontractor Award – Construction for their role on the project.
The $92M project for the Maryland State Highway Administration relieves congestion on one of Montgomery County’s most congested corridors. Construction included a new interchange on I-270 consisting of 14 structures, including a five-span bridge over I-270 and a two-span bridge along an off-ramp. Despite COVID-19, the project was completed safely, and a month early, at which time MDOT SHA held its first ever virtual ribbon cutting ceremony.
Greg Andricos, President and COO of Wagman Heavy Civil, comments, “Wagman is excited that this quality project has been recognized by our industry peers. We take special pride in receiving the award for partnering excellence as it best recognizes the collaborative efforts of all team members.”
