Wagman completed a laboratory renovation for long-time client PA American Water, transforming a former vehicle maintenance shop into a modern testing and laboratory environment. Delivered over a three-month period through a collaborative design-build approach, the project included new laboratory casework, custom stainless steel countertops, cabinetry, finishes, and associated building system upgrades.
Working closely with the owner, design team, and trade partners, Wagman helped develop cost-effective solutions, evaluate value engineering opportunities, and maintain budget and schedule goals. The project was completed with only one minor change order resulting from an unforeseen water infiltration issue.
Key Challenges & Project Details
- Developed a floor leveling solution to correct approximately 6 inches of slope across the existing slab, creating the precision required for laboratory testing equipment.
- Coordinated long-lead stainless steel countertops, requiring precise cabinet installation and field measurements to maintain the project schedule.
- Converted a former vehicle maintenance shop into a fully functional laboratory environment while minimizing disruptions and maintaining quality standards.
- Leveraged a collaborative design-build process to identify value engineering opportunities and optimize project outcomes.
- Ensured all personnel completed PA American Water’s site-specific safety training in addition to Wagman’s safety requirements.
