Wagman Construction, Inc. is proud to announce their selection as the general contractor for the exciting new Center for Education, Business & Arts (CEBA) for Downtown Shenandoah, Inc.
Located on Shenandoah’s Main Street, CEBA will serve the entire Schuylkill County region. This collaborative space will offer a commercial kitchen, an event center with its own catering kitchen, a Penn State classroom, offices for Downtown Shenandoah, and co-working spaces for makers and other businesses. CEBA aims to cultivate a vibrant atmosphere, revitalize communities by filling empty storefronts, attract new businesses, artists, and visitors, and ultimately stimulate economic growth throughout the region.
Construction will occur in two phases. Phase one will focus on completing the entire building structure and the first floor, which will house the Penn State classroom, commercial kitchen, and essential office spaces. Phase two will tackle the second floor, featuring a multi-purpose event center, a health center, and additional office spaces. The grand opening of CEBA is targeted for 2025.
During the sitework portion of Downtown Shenandoah, Inc.’s new Center for Education, Business and the Arts project, workers of Wagman Construction removed an estimated 200 tons of concrete that remained from the buildings that previously occupied the site.
“Using a special concrete crusher, (the concrete) was recycled and used as back-fill. They call it ‘slab to fill’ where the foundation is laid on compacted soil. Instead of throwing the old concrete in a landfill, it is returning to the same property for a new use.”
