The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is the largest provider of charitable food in Pennsylvania. They serve 135,000 individuals every month from a variety of backgrounds and communities across 27 central Pennsylvania counties. To ensure The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank could continue delivering fresh food to struggling families, Wagman completed a cold storage facility renovation at their facility in Harrisburg, PA.
The scope of the project included demolishing two existing coolers and one freezer to make room for more storage space. Also included in the scope was the addition of steel support for the coolers and freezer, an additional sprinkler system to cover a larger footprint, new mechanical equipment, larger condensing units, and new racking for storing skids of product.
Key Challenges & Project Details
Although unforeseen conditions were discovered beneath the new freezer slab after the start of construction, the project team shifted subcontractors to different areas of the building to keep the schedule moving forward.
