Appell Center for the Performing Arts Renovations

Wagman completed renovations for the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in downtown York, PA, in September 2023. This $2.7 million project focused on upgrading the facility’s HVAC system, including rooftop units, interior air management devices, and system controls. These improvements enhance building comfort and efficiency while reducing energy costs. The rooftop units were replaced in July 2023, requiring downtown street closures and creative construction solutions to access the tight site safely.

The project also included updates to the Strand Theatre’s concessions area, featuring new service equipment, beer taps, and improved layout and accessibility.

Additionally, aging exterior doors were replaced and equipped with new accessibility hardware.

In 2025, Wagman’s Special Projects Group returned to complete various exterior improvements to the building. The project included façade repairs, brick repointing, concrete and EIFS patching, and selective carpentry work, along with painting and caulking to refresh the building exteriors. Temporary street barricades ensured safety for workers and the public, and all work was carefully coordinated to minimize disruptions.
