(York, Pa.) Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. announces the I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange Project in Montgomery County, Maryland received a 2021 Project Achievement Award from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) – Baltimore Chapter. The project won the award in the Transportation: Construction Value Greater than $15 Million category. Additionally, the project received the first ever CMAA Baltimore Project of the Year Award. Wagman Heavy Civil representatives accepted the awards during the chapter’s Golf Outing and Project Achievement Award Program at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md. on August 6, 2021.
The $92M I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange Project for the Maryland State Highway Administration relieves congestion on one of Montgomery County’s most congested corridors. Wagman Heavy Civil completed construction which included a new interchange on I-270 consisting of 14 structures, including a five-span bridge over I-270 and a two-span bridge along an off-ramp. Despite COVID-19, the project was completed safely, and ahead of schedule in mid-2020, at which time MDOT SHA held its first ever virtual ribbon cutting ceremony.
