(York, PA) Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. announces they have been issued the contract for the Leeland Road / SR 626 Bridge Reconstruction project over CSX.
The $14M design-build project for the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) will replace the Leeland Road / Route 626 bridge over the railroad tracks for CSX, VRE and Amtrak, located in Stafford County, VA. This will allow space for the addition of a third railroad track under the bridge, increasing the horizontal and vertical clearance to construct the track. It also preserves space for the addition of a future fourth track. The project scope includes design and construction of a new bridge, retaining walls, stormwater management, utility relocations and new signage.
The project is part of the Potomac Creek Third Track South project, which will construct approximately four miles of a third railroad track between the Brooke VRE Station and the Fredericksburg station and the overall rail expansion in Virginia by VPRA. It will help to improve efficiencies of rail operations while supporting the growth of rail traffic in Northern Virginia.
Wagman selected JMT to be the designer of record on the project. Construction is expected to begin this summer with substantial completion by 2028.
