Wagman Finishes Construction on Renovations to Appell Center for the Performing Arts

(York, PA) Wagman Construction recently completed renovations for the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, located in downtown York, PA. The updated space allows the Appell Center to preserve its historic theaters and continue to serve the community as a premier performing arts venue.

The $2.7M project, designed by Warehaus, included the replacement of the HVAC system throughout the facility including roof-top units, interior air management devices, and system controls, which improves the efficiency and comfort of the building, reduces energy costs, and provides cleaner and healthier air. Additional renovations were made to the Strand Theatre concessions areas, which included all-new service equipment and beer taps, as well as improved design and accessibility. The aging exterior doors were also replaced, and accessibility hardware was installed.

A vital part of the York community, the Appell Center for the Performing Arts was built in the early 1900s and features two historic theaters—the 1,262-seat Strand Theatre and the 450-seat Capitol Theatre—offering some of the biggest names in live, professional performing arts along with impactful education programs.
