(York, PA) The Wagman Companies (G.A. & F.C. Wagman, Inc. & Wagman Construction, Inc.) hosted a summer version of “Take Your Child to Work Day” on August 2, 2013. Employees were invited to bring their children/grandchildren to work. Older children were welcome to shadow employees for the day and a program for children of all ages was planned from 10am -1 pm.
The program started with a presentation featuring history and notable construction projects and then introduced concepts related to estimating and construction. Children and parents participated in an “estimating contest” followed by a construction activity to build wooden toolboxes and bird houses in addition to other age appropriate construction themed activities. After lunch, participants learned about construction equipment and had the opportunity to sit in a mobile concrete mixer and other equipment. To sweeten the visit, participants enjoyed a “build your own sundae” bar.
