Senior Vice President Eric Menzer Receives "Downtown First Award"
On August 21, 2008, Wagman Construction's Senior Vice President, Eric Menzer, received the "Downtown First" award in the "Outstanding Individual Within a Company or Organization"
category. Eric's commitment to downtown York is evident in both his personal and professional life. Eric lives in the City, and leads Wagman Construction's Urban Group, an advocate of downtown redevelopment.
Eric was instrumental in bringing baseball to York through his initial efforts as York's former Director of Economic Development, as well as by serving as project executive for Wagman Construction, Construction Manager for the Sovereign Bank Stadium project. Currently, Eric is serving as Wagman's project executive for the development of Codo 241, an innovative upscale rental housing and commercial project across from the stadium.
Wagman Construction, Inc. Reaches Eight Years Without
a Lost-Time Accident
On July 27, 2008, Wagman Construction, Inc. (WCI) reached an amazing new
milestone, when it achieved eight years without a lost-time
accident. The achievement was celebrated at a "Heroes" themed company picnic held on August 14 in the courtyard at WCI's headquarters in York. Each employee received two paid days off, a $50 gas card and a commemorative watch in honor of this outstanding accomplishment.
Wagman employees again signed a safety pledge for the coming year, reaffirming their commitment to their own safety and the safety of others.
Wagman Construction Announces Plans to Move to Downtown York
On February 15, 2008, Wagman Construction, Inc. (WCI) formally announced its plans to move its offices to the first floor of 241 North George Street, part of the Codo 241 redevelopment project in historic downtown York. The announcement was made in the shell of the future office space, with WCI employees, Mayor John Brenner and other distinguished members of the community in attendance. In opening remarks, CEO Joe Wagman said the move, scheduled for fall, will bring 25 new jobs downtown.
President Dave Cross announced WCI's plans to have its new "green" office interior meet requirements for LEED certification, making it the first for-profit, LEED-certified office space in York County.
CEO Joe Wagman Receives YCEDC Award
In January 2008, the York County Economic Development Corporation (YCEDC) selected Joe Wagman, CEO of Wagman Construction, Inc., as recipient of its 2007 "Dare to Be Exceptional" Award.
Joe, who serves as Chairman for the YCEDC Marketing Committee, Chairman for Better York, Inc. and Co-Chair for the Metro-York Municipal Work Group, was honored for having exceeded the criterion for the award in his commitment to excellence in economic development.
Wagman Construction, Inc. Named Among Best Places to Work in PA
Wagman Construction, Inc. (WCI) was named among the Best Places to Work in PA in 2007 in the medium-sized company category. This is the fourth time WCI has received this award.
WCI President David Cross notes, "We are very fortunate that our employees are committed to WCI's philosophy relative to teamwork, customer service and our unique culture of safety. It is their feedback that we use to regularly evaluate and improve our work environment."
Examples of WCI's work environment are an in-house gym, on-site wellness sessions and health screenings, workday outings, employee and family use of Wagman's skybox at York's new Sovereign Bank Stadium and paid community volunteer time.
