Wagman Constuction's Office Space Receives LEED Certification
Wagman Construction has received LEED Certification for Interiors from the United States Green Building Council for its new office space in downtown York. Wagman believes that the project is the first, for-profit project in York County to receive LEED certification.
Among the "green" features of Wagman's office space are high efficiency HVAC and electrical systems, water-saving plumbing features, low VOC-emiting paints and adhesives, and materials with a high degree of recycled content, such as recycled carpeting and particle board with 100% recycled fiber. In addition, by being located in an existing building the project avoided consuming new land and natural resources, and the downtown location with access to public transit and downtown restaurants and other amenities saves automobile trips and fossil-fuel consumption.
Wagman Construction Wins Downtown First Award
Downtown, Inc. held its ninth annual Downtown First award program at the Strand Capitol on August 20, 2009, and presented its "Outstanding New Downtown Business" award to Wagman Construction, Inc. (WCI).
WCI moved to downtown York in February, 2009, into the first floor of the historic building it renovated as part of the Codo 241 project at North and Geroge Streets. WCI has registered the "green" interior office space for LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Wagman Construction Reaches Nine-Year Safety Milestone
On July 27, 2009, Wagman Construction, Inc. (WCI) achieved an amazing nine years without a lost-time accident, a significant accomplishment in the construction industry. WCI is extremely proud of its employees, who sign an annual safety pledge to reaffirm their commitment to their own safety and the safety of others.
"Safety" is one of WCI's corporate Core Values, and continuous safety training and strict safety guidelines are part of WCI's safety program.
Wagman Creates Employee Education Institute with Penn State York
Wagman Construction, Inc. launched the Wagman Institute for Professional Development through a partnership with Penn State York’s continuing education office. The Institute provides on-site education opportunities for Wagman employees. The curriculum is divided into a professional development program and a continuous learning program. Continuous learning sessions are facilitated by Penn State University faculty, and the first two sessions, Project Scheduling and Challenges to Sustainable Design were held in April and June, respectively, at Wagman's new offices at 231 N. George Street.
Wagman Construction Moves to Downtown York
On February 13, 2009, Wagman Construction, Inc. (WCI) moved its offices to 231 North George Street. WCI occupies the first floor of the former York Auto Parts building, part of the Codo 241 redevelopment project in historic downtown York.
WCI has registered its space, the first green for-profit office in York County, for LEED certification according to the United States Green Building Council's standards for green construction.
Wagman's Special Projects Group General Manager Earns Professional Designations
Keith Fishel, General Manager of Wagman's Special Projects Group, has earned the professional designations of "Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist" and "Certified Green Professional," through the National Association of Home Builder's University of Housing.
Wagman's Green Project Earns National Recognition
The Perry Green Townhomes at Petersburg Commons, built by Wagman Construction, Inc., was awarded the "2008 National Award of Excellence in Project Design" by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO).
Petersburg Commons holds the distinction of having been the first green affordable housing project in Pennsylvania.
Senior Vice President Eric Menzer Receives "Downtown First Award"
On August 21, 2008, Wagman Construction's Senior Vice President, Eric Menzer, received the "Downtown First" award in the "Outstanding Individual Within a Company or Organization"
category. Eric's commitment to downtown York is evident in both his personal and professional life. Eric lives in the City, and leads Wagman Construction's Urban Group, an advocate of downtown redevelopment.
Eric was instrumental in bringing baseball to York through his initial efforts as York's former Director of Economic Development, as well as by serving as project executive for Wagman Construction, Construction Manager for the Sovereign Bank Stadium project. Currently, Eric is serving as Wagman's project executive for the development of Codo 241, an innovative upscale rental housing and commercial project across from the stadium.
