G.A. & F.C. Wagman's Joint Venture Team Selected to Design and Build $478.7 Million InterCounty Connector
G.A. & F.C. Wagman, Inc., Granite Construction Company, based in Watsonville, CA, and Corman Construction Inc., based in Annapolis Junction, MD, comprise the joint venture team, InterCounty Constructors, which was awarded a $478.7 million contract from the Maryland State Highway Administration to design and build seven miles of the InterCounty Connector (ICC) from I-370 to Georgia Avenue (MD 97). This contract is the first of five that will create the 18.8 mile InterCounty Connector that will ultimately connect the I-270 corridor in Montgomery County, MD to the I-95/US1 corridor in Prince George's County, MD.

The InterCounty Connector is an extremely environmentally and community-sensitive project, which has previously caused many impediments to its construction. According to the State Highway Administration, "a key factor in the selection of InterCounty Constructors was their proposal's sensitivity to these critical factors which rated higher in technical merit than the proposals from the two competing joint ventures."

The firm will begin design work in the coming weeks, with mainline construction slated for the fall. This first stretch of the ICC is scheduled to be complete by late 2010.
